11 Ideas for Your Brand’s Next Photoshoot

Copy of HOW TO CREATE A CUSTOM YOUTUBE THUMBNAIL (1).png

If you’ve been posting on social media for your brand for a while now, there’s probably been a time you found yourself totally out of ideas on what photos to take for your brand. And that’s ok! It can be hard to brainstorm ideas when you’re busy running your brand, networking, and you’ve got the pressure of consistently producing great, new content.

If that’s you today, you’re in the right place! In this post, I’m going to go over my favorite 11 ideas for your brand’s next photoshoot, to help get you back on track to creating great visual content.

  1. Use a colored backdrop

Keep it simple and use one of your brand colors as your backdrop. It can be as easy as finding a building in your area that is one of your brand colors and photographing in front of it, or you could even purchase posterboard or a bed sheet in one of your brand colors.

  2. Switch it up

Whatever you normally do, do the opposite! Do you commonly shoot inside? This time, take your photos outside! If you normally photograph your products close up, try backing up and photographing from further away.

  3. Shoot some Candids

Get the people or objects you’re photographing in an on-brand location, then keep it flexible and unstructured and photograph whatever unfolds. You’ll be surprised at what great photos can come from relaxed moments.

  4. Feature Customers

Try photographing actual users of your product or services. This can really help you connect with your audience (and major bonus - they’ll share the post with their friends, which will promote your business even further!).

  5. Network with Influencers

Can you think of influencers who represent what your brand stands for? Setting up a photoshoot together will not only provide you with some fresh content, but will help you connect with each others audiences if you both tag each other in the photos.

  6. Behind the Scenes

Instead of featuring the product itself, give your followers a taste of the process by showing them how the product is made. If you have an interesting development or creative process, take a few pictures to show your followers what goes into creating your product or service.

  7. Get in front of the camera

If you have a personal brand, your face needs to be seen. Take new photos that showcase you! Putting a real face to a brand can help followers better connect with your brand, since they’ll feel like they’re connecting to a person and not just a business.

  8. Photograph a lifestyle

Photos of your product being a part of a dream or inspiring lifestyle can help your potential buyers picture themselves in the lifestyle they want (and the one your brand will help them achieve). If you’re interested in learning more about this idea, scour my YouTube profile for this video where I share a lot more on this topic.

  9. Collab

Can you think of brands that your audience would love? Collaboration photos with other brands are a great way to cross promote. Compile a list of brands with complementary products or services to yours, and see if you can network with them and do a photoshoot together.

  10. Photograph a feeling (This is possibly my favorite option!)

Share a picture that doesn’t feature your product or service itself, but rather gives the viewer the “feeling” that you want your audience to associate with your brand. For me, if I just pick a feeling and search that feeling word on pinterest, it helps give me lots of ideas for poses or locations for my next photoshoot.

  11. revisit some old ideas

If you’re really strapped for photoshoot plans, it may be time for you to inspire yourself! Take a look at the pictures from some of your old photoshoots. You’ve probably got a lot more experience running your brand compared to when you did the photoshoots, so you may be able to find a way to improve upon them. Can you change a location to better align with your brand? Maybe you can reshoot (or even just edit!) and incorporate your brand colors. Or, maybe your current budget allows you to go bigger with an idea you’ve already tried!

These are just a few ideas to get you started, and can be used as a jumping off point. If one of them gave you an idea for your brand’s next photoshoot, I’d love to hear all about it in the comments area below!

And, if you need some help planning and organizing your brand’s next photoshoot, I have a FREE download I think you’re really gonna like. It’s my “Photoshoot Planner” PDF.
